PUEBLO, COLO. -- A 14-year-old boy told police he believes he shot a man that broke into his home Wednesday afternoon.

It happened in the 700 block of East 2nd Street in Pueblo at about 3:30 p.m. A 14-year-old boy told police that when he heard someone in his home, he grabbed a handgun and fired it. He said he believed he hit one of the intruders.

After the shot, the intruders ran away.

The boy told police there were three men, one was black and the other two were possibly Hispanic.

Officers said they found the back door kicked in. Power to the house had also been shut off. Blood or any other evidence of someone being shot was not found.

The suspects were not found. Officers did check local hospitals for any wounded people.

After this case, police also issued a warning to residents of Eastside Pueblo. A recent rash of burglaries has been reported.
